Not Yo Momma’s Slaw

I wish all’a my recipes came with cool names.

Sometimes right away something pops into my head. When I don’t automatically think of a great name, I err on the side of “descriptive.”

Which equals boring.

My dream would be food that’s tasty, pretty and healthy (check, check and check) …

With a name that’s descriptive (you know what it is immediately) … catchy (it sorta dances on your tongue when you say it) … and fun (when you hear it, you smile.)

Smiling is good.

The name, ingredients, flavor and look (who doesn’t love purple slaw?) should all make you go “yaaaaaay!”

Am I right?

Aaaaaaanyway … Y’know how coleslaw’s got that little touch o’ creaminess that usually comes with the addition of mayo? Well same here ‘cept no mayo.

Cool, right?

My vegan friends would be lovin’ it! I hope you do too.

Not Yo Momma’s Slaw Recipe

  • 1 baby cabbage (or 1/3 regular cabbage), grated
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp cashew butter
  • 1 tbsp Bragg’s Aminos
  • 1/4 tsp ginger root, grated

Grate cabbage and set aside. Blend wet ingredients well (a little bullet blender works great for this) and toss with shredded cabbage til coated. Enjoy!
