So last week I discovered two things which were pretty extra.
1. Sweet brown rice.
The name is deceiving cuz it’s not particularly sweet … What’s special about this rice is the smooth and creamy texture. The grains are sorta shiny, short, thick and rounded, like sticky rice. For me, this makes a huge difference. I just love it.
2. Garlic Gomasio Sesame Seeds.
These add lots of flavor. Eden makes them but if you can’t find ’em, try toasting up some regular sesame seeds with a splash of extra virgin olive oil and some garlic and salt.
. . . . . . . . .
Black Beans & Rice Only Better
- 1 cup sweet brown rice
- 1 can black beans, 15 oz
- 1/4 cup vidalia sweet onion, diced
- 2 tbsp Garlic Gomasio Sesame Seeds
- 1 tsp + 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- Kosher salt, to taste
Cook rice according to package instructions. In medium frying pan, sauté beans in 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil with onions and salt to taste. In medium frying pan, toast Garlic Gomasio Sesame Seeds in 1 tsp oil, stirring constantly. Plate rice, making a well in center for beans. Surround beans with a little pile of sesame seeds. Enjoy!
